It was literally twelve years ago at this very moment, just after five pm, that the ropes dropped for the first time on Six Flags Ohio. That Friday night will go down in history as one of the most fun times I have ever had in an amusement park. I raced to Batman Knight Flight, saw the first public train go out, and was on the third or fourth. I then dashed to Villain, which opened around six, and again, saw the first public train go out and was on the third or fourth. Later I would try Superman Ultimate Escape and experience the most unique feeling I had ever felt on a coaster going up the twisted spike.
It was an amazing night in an amazing park, one that I will never ever forget.
And a year later to the date, Saturday May 5th 2001, was the first day of the megapark Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, an equally exciting and milestone day for the park.
While the SF era of our beloved park had some issues, it was also a very special and exciting time for our little park on the lake. Some amazing memories were made, and it's just so interesting and sad to think what could have been, since it was such a great place.
