To me it takes a lot to make the status of greatest park in the world, atmosphere, rides, food, and location to name a few. While Cedar Point does have some great rides and its location is fantastic, it lacks in atmosphere and while better than previous years the food is pretty average at best. Coasters are great but they don’t make a park great. I believe Cedar Points decline started when The Dick thought that the best direction to take would be trying to break coaster records. This started the decline of the feel that park used to have with its tree lined midways. His idea was to build the tallest and fastest, as fast as it could be done with minimal thought to themeing and a whole lot of concrete.
I visited parks this summer where the food was better than many restaurants, where themeing was so real you forgot where you were, this is what I want for my hard earned money. Any one of these parks could honestly claim to be Best in the World. Now before everyone starts their bashing, I really don’t hate Cedar Point (I do hate just about everything the previous CEO did though - but that’s another topic). All I am asking is to re look at their marketing, there are many other tag lines they could use, Best in the World is far from the truth and needs to disappear just like the former CEO.
