The park was clean and a lot of buildings got a fresh coat of paint. Saw more re-tracking on Thunderbolt and Racer. Thunderbolt felt very smooth, for a woodie. It was basically a walk-on most of the day. The Racer had a bit more wait, but moved quickly. I still have never felt a car flex as much as Racer, kind of adds to the fun!
Phantoms Revenge was a 25min wait. As usual they decide to add a second train an hour after opening on a Saturday. That has always annoyed me about Kennywood, They know it's the weekend, they know there will be a long line and they had the staff, so why wait to put on the second train?! Phantom is still a great ride though, great view, speed and airtime.
Next I hit the Bayern Kurve. Still my favorite flat. It was making some strange sounds, so I rode a couple of times just in case it went down. Sounded like a bad wheel bearing. It also had a full line all day. Great job to KW for keeping this classic well maintained.
Hit a few other rides and coasters after. Checked to see how the line was for Skyrocket. It had slowed down, so we hoped on. It's a short but fun coaster. It fits in perfect for a local park. Still a strange feeling going upside-down with no OTSR's. IMO it is a much smoother coaster than Maverick, but again, it could be just a little longer.
And of course, no trip to Kennywood would be complete without deep-fried Oreo's!!
We ate lunch at the Parkside Cafe. They offer a nice selection and the portions are well worth the dollars. I can recommend the pasta Alfredo with chicken! Later for dinner we tried a new place across from Aero 360. It is a patio bar-b-q spot. Got a combo of ribs and bratwust.
It was a great day and visit to Kennywood, I never leave this park without feeling satisfied! They do a great job running things and the upkeep is awesome. Just wanted to give a quick trip post. Thanks for reading!
